£1,200PLEASE CONTACT STUART for further information.
This original artwork by SCH Davies (LeMans winner 1927) depicts Davies on the Mulsanne straight in 1925 driving the Sunbeam 3 litre Super Sports - a race in which he co-drove with Jean Chassage bringing the car home in second place - a forerunner to his victory in 1927 in the Bentley 'Old Number 3'.
Davies is better known for his work as editor of Autocar and his sponsorship of the publications notable artists (Gordon Crosby being one of these). He is less well known for his art, although he did train at the Slade school of art as a young man, he kept art as a hobby throughout his life and often illustrated many articles in his magazines under the psuedonym 'Casque'.
This is a rare artwork on a larger scale and measures 58cm x 52cm. It is in it's original, unglazed frame and is in very good overall condition. The only provenance we have is 'From the estate of the Heal family'.
It is an opportunity to own a piece of 'Bentley Boy history' and won't be around for long because of it's unique nature.
