Renault - Place De L’Opera 1912 - Unrestored original Lithograph

This is almost certainly a publicity piece produced by Gamy for Renault. It is an original hand-coloured lithograph and features the lifestyle of the Parisian illuminati of the Belle Epoque. The ladies’ furs and the liberal use of ‘electric lighting’ show an era of Parisian hedonism with scant regard to the carnage that was unfolding to the North of the country, the fact that Gamy’s partner Ernest Montaut must have been very ill at the time makes this a very optimistic and iconic artwork. This is a ‘classic Gamy image’ and is offered in unrestored condition. This image features in many of the books of motoring art – including Tubbs’ Art & The Automobile & Cara Automobile.
